KATIE'S SPEEDWAY
HOMETOWN SPEEDWAY, INDIANA I was raised in Speedway, Indiana about six blocks from the Indianapolis Speedway 500 Race Track. The picture on the left is how I remember the cars and drivers. I last attended a race about 30 years ago. Of course, it has changed greatly now, the least of which are the safety practices.

There used to be a midway the week before the race and the night before the race, cars would line up on Main Street. That is probably no longer the case.

I do get homesick around Memorial Day. We used to hear the cars practicing while we were in school. We attended school with some of the driver's children. Well, everything does change. That is something you can count on.
